What day is this?

I have reached that point in a vacation where I don't know what day it is unless someone tells me. Of course, I don't really care, so don't tell me.

Yesterday was a rest and recovery day. The previous night was not restful, so yesterday morning was a series of naps. Vicki and I didn't go anywhere until after a wonderful lunch with Reginald.

All of the history I learned about the French revolution was pro-revolution - after all, history is written by the victors. But I have learned that there was a strong royalist segment of the population, especially in this area, and they remained loyal to the king. We visited this little chapel, dedicated to royalist martyrs in the area.

It was located back in the woods - unless you knew to look for it, you would probably miss it completely.

I loved the old gate in front.

We also went into Cholet and visited Notre Dame de Cholet, which had gargoyles and flying buttresses, but also had several windows about Jeanne d'Arc.

On a more personal note: besides the marker of not knowing the day, I have also reached a marker on this trip where I am getting some of my French back. Sometimes my response here comes faster en francais than in English. It's pretty cool to find that whatever ability I had can be revived with some time in a French-speaking country.

Got to go - there is a yet uncut baguette calling my name. -Dan
