Angers

Dan will post lots more photos of our time in Angers today, but here are the two that I took.

This is Dan in front of the back (?) of the chateau. It has 17 big big big huge towers, connected by this bigger bigger bigger huger wall. It's built upon the rock and is built of slate. I don't wonder that it has stood for centuries and has never been invaded. Can you imagine rounding the bend of the river and seeing this? I'd so turn around and go back to wherever I came from.

Before we were overwhelmed by the chateau, we were overwhelmed by the Cathédrale Saint-Maurice d'Angers. I don't know who St. Maurice was, but they built him a big-ass church. It has beautiful stained glass from the 12th century and an organ with huge pipes.

We also saw the Apocalypse Tapestries. Pretty impressive weaving.
